Mercury Outboard I.D Please

Hi Raiders,

I'm hoping someone is able to assist in identifying my Mercury OB please.

The only serial number I can locate is from what I guess is possibly the welch plug.

The number is; 6164314

I am lead to believe it's an 88 70hp. But I would like to confirm this.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

think its 1980-1983 but double check with huey

Much appreciated. I've gotta day though, the bloke I bought it from told me it was an 88 model. That being said, it is an extremely well looked after motor for its age.
