frankp
I have been hearing a few reports of these fish off Sydney and it has got me pumped to catch one. I have never fished for them and was curious to see if anybody could help with some information on them. The research I have done have mainly pointed to a summer night as to when to catch them but considering they are an offshore fish what is it like fishing offshore at night with a NE blowing. Does the wind back off at night at a certain time? Any thoughts would be great.
Jewhunter
We've had some good sessions out of the Gold Coast on them. It's mainly been Autumn/Winter though. When you find them you should be able to get quite a few as they are a schooling fish. Around a full moon seems to be the best time. Just a basic 2 hook dropper rig with as light a sinker as possible. I like to use circle hooks. Fresh strips of yakka works very well as bait. Nor east winds tend to drop right out at night. Not always, but most of the time. Good luck. Cheers, Grant.

telisn
Have fished off shore for years and never caught a trag. IS it better to chase them at night?
