sydney south
Hello All and thanks in advance for any posts/replies. I have recently sold my larger boat and are looking at getting into something a little smaller. I also have narrowed it down to two brands as the title suggests - Quintrex and Stacer. The requirement is a used half cabin boat post 2008 with single axle trailer. The boat would be used for mainly river and bay fishing and socialising with the occasional trip outside for a bit of bottom bouncing - when the conditions allow. I have been looking at the Quintrex 530 Spirit and the 560 Spirit along with the Stacer 539,549,559,569 - Cape/Sea/Wave/Ocean Runner ranges. I would prefer a 4 stroke, but a etec or Mercury optimax would be second choice. Questions 1. Any feedback on the Suzuki, Mercury, Honda or Yamaha 4 stroke range? 2. Any opinions or reports - good or bad on the range of boats I have selected? 3. What horsepower would be the recommended? 4. They vary a lot in pricing - anyone had a recent purchase of these makes and models and if so would you mind sharing what you paid? Again thankyou - Sydney South. oziodin
I got a Quintrex 580 spirit with 135 super charged 4 stroke ( would have liked a little bigger engine for that size Boat, ones you had a 4 stroke you never go back ( My Opinion)) but never the less I never looked back I extremely happy with in in all aspect. except: putting it on the trailer when there is side wind & when you if compare it with a fiberglass boat , fiberglass usually traves better when the sea / waves is up. But in Overall a great Boat. Cheers Oziodin
Benzeenees
For what you are planning either would be good, but perhaps stay at the lower end around 5.1 to 5.3m would be plenty. I have a 60hp Yamaha 4 stroke on a 5m Quintrex. Hasn't missed a beat in 7 years. Very economical. We use it offshore mainly up to 20km out, but mainly 10 - 15km.
