benm Posted March 16, 2014 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I am heading to Port Stephens for a fish next weekend. Target species is kingfish. Had no trouble getting live squid when I was there last time. We only fished the south head (Mt Tomaree) at the time, downrigging whole live squid for no hits. Where else is a good spot to try or should I try this location again? Early morning like 5am, head out to Tomaree get some livies then come back in and try drifting the breakwall at Nelson. Fingal headland has produced a few recently. Then you can't go past Broughton island. Best there early morning, late arvo! You are also a chance up there of snapper and some longtail as well. Cheers scratchie!!!
