Arrived at about 4:30 pm to see another guy get wrapped around a pylon by a kingie, on a handline. I rigged up an unweighted 6 inch stickbait on a worm hook as well as a pilchard on a paternoster rig. Rain set in but when it cleared a flock of birds started circling about 20 metres away. Schools of bait were jumping everywhere and i though i was in with a chance. Cast into the middle of the action and the stickbait got nailed by... a seagull Pulled that in, and luckily it wasn't hooked. Kept trying until night fall and then packed up.
