ballbags
I'm heading out to old mans hat tomorrow just want to know if anyone's been out there lately and if they have had any luck Cheers
Linc
watch the wind and the swell mate. Caught a couple of legal snapper there from the boat a few weeks back, are you boat or rock based?
tasksta
Yeah wind gonna be ugly tomorrow, stay safe! How far out from the 'hat' should you fish this area and in what depth? Never caught a king there, had much more luck over the south side. Cheers Paul
Linc
Caught one rat there on plastic in about 20M of water, there's a ledge that runs along the cliffs with a pretty decent drop from 7 or so meters to 20M, only just starting to learn about the area myself as I've only fished it twice now, always heaps of boats trolling up and down there. ballbags
That is a classic name Lol LINC was given to me at my old work Headed out land based sheltered from the NNW wind Seas wearnt rough but the rain stuck around for a bit Heaps of salmon Mate got a calamari and tailor and I got reefed by a decent king Haven't fished this ledge for a while but was the only lb ledge sheltered from the north
Guest hawkesbass
Never fish old mans hat land based with a southerly wind or any swell running from the south it is a low ledge and gets pumped in these conditions and is a slippery ledge so cleats/spiked boots a must. Ne swell and northerly winds it is a fairly safe ledge to fish. But with all rocks spots fish to the conditions and be very carefull.
