Paikea
Myself, son in law and two mates are looking at doing a two day charter from the Coromandel area of NZ in early November. I have chartered there before and had great fishing for Kings, Snapper and Ooglies. We would also like to have a go at fishing for Trout/Salmon in the rivers of the area near Auckland. However the cost of hiring a guide for 4 anglers for a day on top of the cost of the two day boat charter is a little too much for two of our team. We are still thinking of having a go at the fresh water but need some advice as to places where we may have a reasonable chance of catching Trout/Salmon using both Fly Fishing and Spinning gear without a guide. We would much appreciate any Raider who has experience of fishing the Auckland area pointing us in the right direction. Alternatively, if we have any Kiwi members who could show us where to go and how to fish their area we would be delighted to host them for a fishing trip in either the Sydney or Ulladulla area if they ever get over this side of the ditch. (offshore or estuary/bay). Thanks Paikea
Guest no one
I've caught on the Whangapoua side of Coromandel... Lots of Kahwai and big snapper - seriously big snapper... Kings on the the run in tides and Eagle rays. To be honest... you'll see when you're there where fishes well... a Whangapoua I caught more on the silt beach by the boat ramp fishing a tiny channel by the marker bouys... big snapper bro! Seriously big snapper!!!

Paikea
We are looking to spend two days in the Auckland area before flying home and would like to fish for trout using both Fly and Spinning gear if possible. We don't want to spend too much time driving, accommodation location for the two days is open but must be within reasonable distance from Auckland airport. Say no more than 1.5 Hrs driving. Our timing is now confirmed to fishing Coromandel on 13 & 14 November, drive to Auckland area early Saturday morning 15 November fish that day and AM Sunday then fly back PM Sunday or AM Monday. That's the plan, but open to suggestions. Cheers and thanks Paikea
