Tried to do this report last night when I came back from the pub but had to abandon the attempt as too <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif"title=":drunk:" /> In the sober light of day here we go

Hired a car and had a slow drive down the coast from Sydney to Melbourne, taking about a week, staying at your Big 4s along the way. We had 3 nights in Melbourne staying at my cousins then had a slow drive down to Adelaide. Never fished at all on this part of the trip as there was so much to see. One highlight which sticks out is being "mobbed" by King Parrots,Crimson Rosellas and Rainbow Lorikeets at Pebbley Beach just south of Ulladulla <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png"title=":)" />

Another highlight of this trip was visiting the Killer Whale Museum at Eden - what a story !!!!!!!

We stayed at Adelaide Shores Big 4 for a few days and I was befriended by an ozzie fisho called Mick - nickname Hellbelly <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/sun.gif"title=":sun:" /> He took me to fish at the mouth of the mighty river Murray. We tackled up with small metal lures and it was virtually a fish a cast. Mick said they were salmon trout, not big but good sport.

From Adelaide we flew to Ayers Rock, having a few days there then it was onto Cairns and up to Port Douglas for a 12 day stay. We stayed at the Freshwater Apartments on the main street. As soon as we got there I was scouting out the fishing spots in the harbour and sussed out a jetty spot behind St Marys Church <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/sun.gif"title=":sun:" />

Next morning seen me down by the jetty at sunrise, armed with bread and squid from Coles <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/sun.gif"title=":sun:" /> Got chatting to a fisho from Melbourne called Jeremy who was also at the same spot. I decided to fish with a light running ledger baited with squid as plan A. I kept missing bite after bit so downsized the hook. I did finally manage to hook this fellah - I think it was called a spotted scat but you will have to keep me corrected with my fish identifications during this series of reports !!!

Jeremy was fishing with bread and hooked this good diamond scaled mullet and what a scrap it gave him.

I fished on a bit longer and caught a few of these, not sure if they were bream or snapper.

Well that was my first shore session at Port Douglas and I really enjoyed it <img class="bbc_emoticon" src="http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/public/style_emoticons/default/sun.gif"title=":sun:" />

My next report sees me trying to target the large diamond scaled mullet there. Not sure when I will be posting my next report as heading off to our static caravan in Scotland for a few weeks and out Internet access there is a bit patchy.
