Busy-livin
Hey all , I'm chasing some opinions for the problem I'm having with my sounder! And can I say the fishraider members lowrance night can't come quicker! I have only had my lowrance elite 7 hds for a few months and was previously on my old boat and worked ok but I got the shop to transfer it over to my new boat and it won't work problem being that the depth reading plays up some times it's fine and some times it says it's for example 0.6 metres deep when it's 4m plus! Also the display in the screen is an absolute mess shows no bottom no water depths nothing, it's extremely poor and just a big blur of colour like what the bottom looks like on a working one but it's my whole screen!! I tightened the transducer mount and made sure it was positioning correctly (YouTube showed me !) and not pointing down . Connections seem fine I will check again for the 100th time tomorrow or do I reset it ! I'll try put a pic up to show you when I take the boat out, just worked out one issue with the boat and now I'm trying to deal with this.. Don't you just love boats! Cheers jake
VViCKiD
Hey mate. Sounds like u have quite a few problems with it. Perhaps u can do a hard reset? That may get it back to its original settings. Make sure u save ur secret spots to memory card first though!
NaClH2OK9
Can you post A pic of the transom showing where the transducer is mounted.

Busy-livin
So a reset because it maybe internal in the unit itself? I'll swap everything to the memory card before hand if I reset

If it was working fine then the shop swapped it over to the new boat and it doesn't work then they may stuffed something up. The connections could be on wrong, but then you say the depth shows up sometimes. Could be electrical interference from something on the new boat. Test it out in Demo mode. Does that show up ok? We'll see the pic of how the transducer is fitted as that is important.
Busy-livin
This is my boats rear end with the transducer
Catchin Jack
Could be it's getting noise from other wiring or it's got power from another source, try get power direct from battery and run wiring opposite side to any other wiring. I have similar problem but not as bad as yours but I couldn't be stuffed changing it.
a boat
That transducer looks too low in the photos-at least from the angle they are taken and that pick-up will be disturbing the water flow badly being so close. Raise it up a bit and swap the pick-up to the port side and see if the sounder returns are better. Cheers, Huey.
Busy-livin
Thanks Huey I'll do that now and raise it a bit. Pick wouldn't effect it whilst drifting or anchored would it? Because even at ancor is rubbish I've put on simulator and it's fine like in a shop. But turn it off and back to mornal

Nolongeramember
The transducer looks set up ok to me I think you may be getting electrical interference from something. The power or earth wires possibly have a shared connection to some other device which is affecting it. I would try and wire it direct to the battery or even better its own separate battery just for a test. If there is still a problem after that I would run the transducer cable on the opposite side of the boat and see if anything improves.
Busy-livin
Great day on the water today, Last night I tilted the transducer down one notch and whilst doing it I felt a oily film on it. I think it was fuel or something so I cleaned it all off and today for the first time it was working fine!
Nolongeramember
Hopefully it's fixed now and all it needed was a bit of a clean.
