Goanna54
Morning all, Just bought myself a gen black drunken monkey, ultra light for flicking plastics at bream. Quite different action to my Berkley drop shot which will take a bit of getting used to. I was wondering if a 1/6 ounce jig head was too much for this rod. I was hoping to chase flathead as well with it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Tim
thefisherman6784
I really want one for light flicking It is rated 0.5-4 grams so it's got very light lure rating Personally, I think 1/6 is fine but I wouldn't really fish over 1/8 What reel and lb braid have you matched it with and what leader are you planning on using Cheers thefisherman6784 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Iceman
I've got one but only use it for fishing 3lb fluoro straight through and small sinking stickbaits Awesome rod for that

Reel is shimano Sedona 2500 soon to be upgraded to I'm not sure what. Depends on what the finance manager will allow
thefisherman6784
Should be fine mate But I'm matching it with a 1000 pflueger patriarch with 3lb braid 4lb leader I honestly wouldn't put a 2500 reel on a 1-2kg rod but if you get a new reel, maybe go with a daiwa aird or lexa or Shimano stratic or aernos in 1000-2000 Cheers thefisherman6784 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes the 2500 is too much but it'll have to do for the meanwhile. Daiwa aird is on the list for sure. Cheers, Tim
