snatcher
Here is an Aurora shot I took on the Mull of Galloway,Scotland. I took it near the top of Cairn Fell and you can see it reflected in the duckpond in the foreground. Just been to a firework display at Whitley Bay FC ground tonight and actually took 150 pictures during the 30 minute display. Have just looked at the first few and here they are. I do find firework photography challenging Do many ex poms still celebrate Nov 5th (Guy Faulkes Night) in Australia ? John
Guest no one
I don't... and from the past 2 years of being here I've never heard anyone talk about it or even know about it. I don't think you can buy fireworks legally here in NSW either. Something about too many kids blowing digits off, aside from that... its officially bushfire season so the last thing we need is fireworks and bonfires all over the place. I have so many good memories of Scotland and Bonfire night... I was born and raised on the Shetland Islands for 14 years, The Aurora Borialles up there was fantastic. Newport
We used to celebrate Guy Faulkes in NZ when I was young, always a big bonfire and plenty of fireworks but I think its pretty rare now. Thats an awesome pic of the Aurora!
snatcher
I just love the challenge of photographing Mother Nature and her fickle nature. I still have yet to get a decent meteorite picture !!!! This is about the best i have managed and it took me about 200 shots to get this one. If you look very closely you can just about see it. Its just to the left of the monument. Another favourite of mine is rainboows. Any hint of a possible rainbow and I grab my camera. Even with an 18mm lens I sometimes cannot get the whole thing into view and have to photostitch overlapping images. Lightening strikes, they are always on my list. Have only managed two and that was when I was staying with my daughter in Freshwater. This was the better one. I really have a soft spot for sunrises/sunsets. I am lucky in that my home here in Whitley Bay is only a 2 minute walk from the sea front. Here is a reflective sunrise shot I took at the bottom of our street. As some of you may know we have a static caravan in Drummore,Mull of Galloway,Scotland. Our caravan looks east over Luce Bay and most mornings I will be up before sunrise checking the sky out As we are retired we spend most of the summer there and as a consequence have hundreds of sunrise shots from there. Here is one i took from inside the caravan lounge - too lazy to go outside !!! Finally here is a sunrise shot I took from our caravan veranda Would be great to see some of your Mother Nature shots John

snatcher
That river looks fishy mate Another thing I like trying to catch on camera is "reflective sunrise/sunset" shots. I find it quite a challenge to say the least !!! This is probably my best shot at it so far. John
