Parramatta River Blackfish

Hit the north side today to fish the last of the run in and the run out tide.

My mate Michael joined me at 9am, great timing as I was on to my first fish.

Michael was using my Slazenger with a spinning reel, while I used the new Wilson and Alvey combo.

The downs were pretty consistent , we both missed a few, we both pulled hooks

Michael ended up with 2 around 38cm, the rest were in the 30-35 range.

He had to leave around 11 and took the fish for teapost-33162-0-75251100-1415506350_thumb.jpg

We only got one undersized that went back in, i stayed a while and I got a few more that I gave away

to the guys on the wharf.

Thanks Scratchie.

I wasnt too far west of the bridge, And blackfish are one of the least contaminated according to DPI

I would have them once or twice a month.

Some of them you can tell have come in from the ocean rocks, square mouth, big lips and lighter colour.

some cracking luderick there mate, been trying to crack the technique of blackfishing for a while now but just cant get it? :wife:

You should read Robertas' Best Ever Blackfish Tips,

And go to the breakwall and watch what the people getting fish are doing.

I haven't been off the rocks yet, I'm still a newbie.

Get your float balanced so only an inch or 2 is showing above water, berley up, and don't be in a hurry.

While watching for a down, point the rod towards the float, always leave some slack.

Let the float go down, wait, let it go, so you know the fish has it, then lift.
