dylrox
Hi guys. Ben Robinson and I are going to be giving you guys freshwater / bass fishing reports a couple of times a fortnight. We will keep them short but full of detail. We hope you enjoy them. We spent 2 hours fishing for bass this morning. Arrived at bens at 5am and we promptly drove to our spot. Water levels were up due to rain and water a little dirty, but that didn't worry us. We had planned to start in our favorite area and work our way down. With the lure tray getting low, we had our last more reliable shallow divers. Worked a treat, I received a small head whack on retrieving. Ben a few Meters over picked up 2 small bass and a beauty measuring 23cm - all in the space of 30 minutes! You ripper! A slow retrieve over a submerged log and BOOM I was on. Adjusted my drag and worked my reel... Lost him. Unhooked. Worked our down the banks and I lost another after hooking up to a small bass in a deep hole and lost 3 lures in 10 minutes before a hook up on a beautiful rapala trout lure. Lost again! bugger! Ben saw the fattest biggest bass he's ever seen sitting on surface watching his lure, 45cm plus - very exciting times. In summary, we lost 4 lures, lost 2 bass and landed 3. Biggest 23cm. Beautiful morning even if I did take a fall down the banks and had to be pulled up to avoid the water. Cheers guys, tight lines. Will keep all reports in this running thread if that's ok with admin? dylrox
Report two: Sunday bass report - Rod in water by 5:15. Beautiful morning as always. Hit our usual go to sections and no hits immediately. A few THUMPERS splashed the surface nearby.. After 45 minutes Ben had worked his way down the banks and BOOM, good take and run on retrieval. My new berkely fat dog lure did the job. Beautiful little bass measuring 22cm. Can't complain, although it didn't fight well. The terrain is brutal and very hard to cast. Shortly after I lost my lure in a tree. Bugger! Worked out way down further, both had another hook up and lost in water. Gets the heart racing! All in all one fish, some missed hook ups and a beautiful morning (only fished 2 hours) Cheers, bass hunters! Will provide another update this weekend. elferoz777
thats all good. I worked out where you are from the first pic. A mate of mine used to fish there but only heard of decent catches but never hooked up himself. Very nice area there and you to have some luck. thanks for the post
matyg
nice work, they sure do get addictive . unlucky you are losing lures like that, sounds like you need to start swimming a bit to get them back. i havn't lost a bass lure this hole season by getting in the water and following the line down. shouldnt be too many crocs in the illawarra
dylrox
Cheers guys. Another report coming over the weekend. Yeah, one questions, I'm always afraid to walk in the water because I fear I will scare off the bass. If the lure is closeby reckon I should just get in and get the lure and just move down spots? Cheers (PS- big big big eels in there... will they attack HA)
dylrox
Bass report, 14th Dec 2014. gday all, just had one of the most frustrating bass sessions. Spent half the time losing lures or getting lures out of trees. Heavy vegetation is taking its toll. Tail whacked and could see multiple bass watching Lure!! By the time I lost another lure I cracked the shits and decided to do some recon on new spots. Did some driving and walking. I did manage to land this guy first few casts - bullrout (freshwater stonefish) - his spines are dangerous, handled with care (grip glove) and released back in. dylrox
Bass report, 13th Dec 2014. So I went out on my own this morning, down a man (Ben). Tried a new spot to recent weeks. Geez, somebody get this man a coffee with his donughts. Got a big fat ZERO. After some walking arrived at my first cast around 515 am. It was tough going, mossies biting, but nothing else. Small lure whack first few casts and then made my down the banks. No luck. Found a beautiful little honey hole with all the potential in the world. No luck. Something very big was moving in the water, exciting times. Lost a lure and did some more walking. Called it time when it started raining at 7am. Flicked a few with fast retrieve on my way back to the car and managed a feisty little bream hit my beautiful rapala X lure. Unhooked. Home by 8am and ready for another more productive session tomorrow. Cheers, Dylan
brendong
Sounds like the bass bug has bitten you hard....I fished a very likely looking area yesterday further down the South Coast....all the potential in the world but zip...very frustrating...
