Hi Raiders

Had an early morning session on the Hacking and picked this up on about my third cast. Initially thought it was a whiting till I got it to the kayak and saw the teeth and mouth. It hit a small topwater popper very hard and had a good aggressive fight. Anyone know what it is? 694bdc21a2ad7b8a3e96e986d26daa31.jpgbd8f84bb4948ff60c33da5eac9ca14f6.jpg

Thanksn Ian Bat and Krispy I,

I was pretty sure the big fella was an EP although to be honest, if not for the fact that I was in tidal water, I would have thought him an Australian Bass...I have read the descriptions on the dpi.nsw.gov.au website, but I sure find it hard to tell the difference.

As for the second one, what is the full name of that fish? I used to fish for 'pike' in Canada but they were a lot different to this guy. I couldn't find anything to match it on the salt or fresh section of the government website. Like I said, he hit a topwater lure and hit it very hard. Good sport fish in its own right if you ask me...especially on light takle like I was using.

Anybody else ever catch them on a lure?

Yes they can be very agressive, will hit most lures id you get one infront of them, great bait and also not bad to eat. Their full name is short finned pike
