Hi guys,

I brought a Garmin dv70 at Christmas after a few uses I noticed 3 white lines appear on the top of the screen, I took it back to Bcf after waiting 1 month to repair the missing pixels they just replaced the unit, I went out a week later, fished all night and left the finder on, the next morning there was I white line in a similar place too last time. I took it direct to Garmin and the tech said it sounds like the wiring is fine he doesn't know why it deletes pixels, he then gave me a a new mapgps

751xs and said this should work, I haven't connected it yet as I don't want to ruin it, the wiring goes from battery to fuse box with an 15amp fuse in it then from fuse to fish finder which has a glass tube fuse connected to it, I haven't connect it to an auxiliary switch.

Any ideas guys??

Thanks

Should I have a main 30 amp circut breaker before the fuse box ??

Yes. Where the wiring for auxiliary systems connects to the battery you should have a fuse. Wiring fuses protect the wiring and fuses in series with the final wiring to the equipment protect the equipment.

Dead pixels are nothing to do with the installation or usage. They are usually caused by a crook screen or dodgy connectors from screen to PCB - nothing you can fix or prevent (unless you dropped it).
