jtp
Hi everyone, I've recently moved to Narellan and want to check out the Nepean river tomorrow on my hobie outback. Any advice on launching spots nearby? I'm not very familiar with the area yet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe
michael2203
Hi Joe, I not in yak's myself, but there is spot I go land based from and the guys launch from there constantly. Look at Macquarie Grove rd where the bridge crosses the river near Camden Airport. Park on the western side of the road and there is about a 50m walk to the river. There is a great little beach where guys launch from all the time. Good luck!
jtp
Thanks man, I scouted the same spot on google maps but wasn't sure if the terrain was suitable. I'll give it a go tomorrow! Cheers.
zook2001
Been awhile but there used to be ramp at Belgenny reserve on the other side of the river , Douglas Park is OK ,other than that a bit of carry is needed a most spots.
jtp
I launched today from Macquarie Grove Rd. A bit steep but manageable with the trolley. No fish/1nibble. I hit a dam not far from the launch site and could not go further. On further investigation on google maps there looks to be a lot of dams every 5kms or so. Because of the dams would it be better to fish down river? Have any bass been caught this far upriver? Thanks i'll check out the Belgenny ramp some time too. Thanks Joe
zook2001
Downstream of Maldon is fine as all the weirs have fishladders so bass are throughout the river, gotta keep trying, the keen fishos are normally on the water early, I never had much luck late on the water. Douglass Park is good as you can head up or downstream easily though it gets a bit shallow in sections heading downstream. Charles
dean
It's starting to get late in the season now and the river hasn't fished that well all year, so you might find it tough at the moment. You can launch at any of the bridges, some will be harder than others. Belgenny probably provides the easiest launch site. There's a local bass club in the area, might be worth looking into. Good luck.
Conor_B
Launched there today and headed downstrean for a couple of kms, had to cut short because of the rain but managed a couple of bass the biggest only 30cm. Hard fishing and not great conditions but definately has potential. Have caught bass as far as menangle launching from belgenny. Definately finding more success early mornings.
