It's only getting better

Recommended Posts

The fishing up and down the coast has been great over the past few months with the south coast seeing it's best marlin bite in my memory & Sydney to Port Stephens fishing great as well. Our return from Sydney has seen plenty of kingfish over the last week & with the Leeuwin current already pushing hard across the SA bight we are already seeing some cooler water start to push up from down south & east. This new water has seen the commercial fleet & a few lucky recreational anglers that have managed to get out catch yellowfin. The water hasn't dropped off enough to stop the marlin especially the stripes & blues.

The weekend saw a great bite from striped marlin off JB with boats encountering up ten fish and the Banks continued to produce quality kings. When Sydney had a good striped marlin bite this season JB saw a good bite approximately 4 days later. Keep an eye for a good bite off Sydney late this week hopefully pushing into the weekend.

With our Sydney competition on the weekend of the 18th & 19th April we should see good numbers of blue marlin & hopefully a few yellowfin.

With some luck we may see an early run of yellowfin giving us plenty of time for the bluefin to turn up.

Good luck if you get out this week & don't forget to post up on here whether you have any luck or not as it will probably save you some fuel in the future.

Cheers

Fished Monday. Worked an area holding bait on the shelf East of plonk hole for 2 hours for 0. Went wide to 500fa and only had a temp rise of 0.4 to 22.5 out there. Went north in that line for 3 hours for 0. Heard the storm

Warning and ran home flat out in a beautifully flat ocean. Nothing heard on the radio from anyone else out either.

Hope it improves but the SST is not looking too promising.

Cheers

Scott
