crusher87
We have a trip organised for this week coming, however the swell is north easterly 2-3m and winds 10-20 knots north easterly. It would make the bar almost impossible to cross right? Has anyone had any experience up there in similar conditions? If it was in the south it wouldn't be a problem. tyrone07
Nor east wind with a run out tide is horrendous up there, I've read a lot of boats have been launching from back beach, last time we were up there it was super shallow but I know they were planning on dredging it
crusher87
Pulled the pin and we are going to go next week. The swell will be 2 metres coming straight at the bar with a nor Easter. No thanks! Looks like would have been great over the last few days. I will hopefully be posting something next week.
Thommo
We arrived home a day early yesterday because of the building swell and northerly wind. We fished three days on one of the charter boats, managed to catch a few Spotted Mackerel, Trag, Pearlies etc. Crossing the bar on our return on Wednesday afternoon we witnessed an overturned boat on the northern side of the bar, apparently it had capsized with two elderly brothers on board, unfortunately one drowned. The SWR bar has to be respected!
