Hand held vhf radio battery life

Hi guys,

I'm planning on setting up a ditch bag for my boat and was planning on keeping a vhf radio. Just wordering what the battery life would be if I left it off. It would be annoying if I had to recharge it every time I went out

Cheers

I had one of those dodgy import radio on my boat for a few weeks. Standard battery. I was surprised that A) It did survive with only a bit of rust on screws, and B) how the battery lasted. I would say over 1 month. But don't take my word as rule. You might want to spend on a real waterproof radio, and do your own tests.

I got a raymarine hand held as a backup, I got that one because it uses those normal c batteries, I just keep a pack of the duracell 20 batteries with the radio for if and when I need to use it. I think it uses 4 at a time. Don't have to worry about keeping it charged or recharging it that way.
