VViCKiD
Hi guys, I'm planning on setting up a ditch bag for my boat and was planning on keeping a vhf radio. Just wordering what the battery life would be if I left it off. It would be annoying if I had to recharge it every time I went out Cheers
cameldownunder
I had one of those dodgy import radio on my boat for a few weeks. Standard battery. I was surprised that A) It did survive with only a bit of rust on screws, and how the battery lasted. I would say over 1 month. But don't take my word as rule. You might want to spend on a real waterproof radio, and do your own tests.
VViCKiD
Thanks cameldownunder. I was thinking of a gme one. It's really an emergency backup only. I'll do some more research.
Scent Blazer Lures
I got a raymarine hand held as a backup, I got that one because it uses those normal c batteries, I just keep a pack of the duracell 20 batteries with the radio for if and when I need to use it. I think it uses 4 at a time. Don't have to worry about keeping it charged or recharging it that way. boattart
I have an ICOM and battery life is great can last weeks but transmission range is limited to line of sight because of the power output and aerial. From memory it was around $220.
