Cowan Round 2

Hi raiders,

I went out to cowan again on tuesday night to chase the hairtail again.

I twas a very slow night with the wind making it very uncomfortable.

Caught a nice jew around midnight

Then caught a 1.1 metre hairtail around 3 am.

Wind and rain made it too uncomfortable so at 4 am called it quits and made the rough and choppy trip back to the boat ramp.

Unlucky that there wasn't more hairtail around

But that is a nice Jew as by catch

Nice. Plenty of jew in the system ATM. Your always a chance whilst chasing hairies. What rig did you end up using?

I used a 13kg wire trace straight onto a set of 3/0 gang hooks. I didnt put a stinger as it was just too much hassle .

I used pilchards and yakka fillets, Pilchards caught both jew and hairtail. The yakka didnt get touched entire night.

I used a whole squid with 2 snelled 7/0 circle hooks using 40lb fluro but that got bitten off by something, so I put wire trace on all the rigs after that.

Good Jew. You are really killing it at the moment. We are in Canberra this weekend but will probably be out there next weekend.
