Just like to say hello and looking forward to getting involved in all things fishy. I fish with my kids and enjoy anything to do with being in, on or under the water.

We do a little of everything from surveys to offshore game, including night time broadbill fishing.

After many years of owning many of Australia's leading boat brands I'm now using a small zodiac rib for everything from inshore to hitting the offshore seamounts down here in Narooma.

I don't target the big fish so much due to back problems but leave those to my 15 year old daughter ( who also tends to do everything these days!!). If any members saw the underwater broadbill images in the last two Bluewater magazines these were from my daughter ( she's even taken over the camera gear!!)

Anyway enough waffling on, looking forward to more fishy tales.

Jon

Welcome to Fishraider Jon!

I look forward to reading your posts and adventures with your family. :)

Cheers scratchie!!!

Thanks guys and also an apology for something I mentioned in another post. I didn't realise the site has such a strong view on spearfishing and though I don't spearfish my daughter recently started and also picked up sponsorship from a large dive shop. We also dive and have much to do with surveys for Universities both here and Tasmania. My daughter has also been selected to be youth ambassador for marine science and hopefully heads off on the Tassey ice breaker next year on a research project (many legalities to get through as well as specialist training first due to her only being 15). She has also logged over 150 fish outside their normal habitat range through red map, many of these tropical species have adapted to surviving our southern winters.

I support all her marine exploits from game fishing to doing talks on marine species ( she's doing one tonight). These talks have been very good for bringing both anti fishing people together with what she does, we even got the footage that was used through the media to help turn the first supper trawler away of seals, dolphins and marine birds feeding on redfish.

We are extremely selective on our target species which often includes lobsters which my daughter gives to the old boys in our neighbourhood who are no longer able to get out for them.

I will try to make sure I don't mention spearfishing in my reports but does that also include free diving for lobsters as we often get asked advice on how and where to catch them.

Anyway hope is his doesn't get me kicked off as the spear side of things is a very small part of what we do.

Hi Jon,

I'm glad your enjoying the site. With regards to diving/spearing etc..... It is a site rule as this is a "fishing forum".

So anything related to rod and reel is all good!

Cheers scratchie!!!
