Jerusalem Bay Crabbing

Heard some talk that no crabbing allowed in Jerusalem Bay and Cowan creek.

Anybody else heard same talk?

Hi Raider,

That is correct .  The use of nets other than a landing net is prohibited in Cowan Creek and Jerusalem Bay.

But there is nothing stopping the use of crab traps.

I didn't know that. So if you don't use crab traps, how else do you catch them? By hand?

You can try the same way they do in Brisbane Water.  Put a hand line out with a bait on it and wait for the crabs the take the bait , then pull them in.

I think you will find that witches hats or traps are fine to use anywhere in the Hawkesbury except Brisbane Waters- they are regarded as traps not nets in fisheries regulations

Seems traps are ok..BUT NO NETS just got to find them crabs.
