I main benefit I notice is that because of the increased clarity it will pick out individual fish rather than just show a blob and this can help you determine whether you are looking at target fish or just bait-fish. Fish close to structure are also better separated. Does it help fishing? If you use your sounder as you main fish locating tool then yes.
