kingfishaholic
The Mahi Mahi schools have been largely absent this year unfortunately. Rare reports of successful trips to the fads. One boat recently having luck at the port hacking fad. Anyone have any ideas where they are, if they are there and what they are taking?
garryl
My brother an i went out to the Wollongong FAD last Friday, my first trip out, in a fair bit of swell, one other boat out there. The other boat looked to pick up a few, but were all under sized. We only got one, just legal. We were using yakkas. Saw quite a few right on the FAD, but were all small. Nothing out around it, but it was probably hard to see given the swell.
Oscarthebeagle
I had success on Port Hacking Fad last friday see " Almost Perfect Day" in Fishing Reports. All fish were caught on live bait and up current from the fad. Other boats fishing didn't seem to be catching as many and 30-40ft boats with big diesel engines trying to hold right on the fad didn't help. That was my first dollies trip of the season, i find February/march more prodctive on the fads, although last season very disappointing for me, although with 3 young kids now i don't get to many chances to fish wide.
