Frosty85
Hi guys, There is a few posts about this already but I'm a planning a trip to swains in July next year. Just wondering if anyone can share there experience. Looking at the mv night crossing. Anyone been on this boat. Also abit gear advice. Going to buy a good spin combo and already got a good overhead. The boat recommended and alvey combo for the deep water. They also stated braid is overrated and over priced. Would it really assist the hook up rate? Anyways any advice of comments would be grateful. Cheers
6784_dog
Hi Frosty my crew just came back from the night crossing in July - any gear with 40lb+ line will be fine. I did some light gear fishing and it was terrific. The night crossing is an amazing boat and the Spanish mackerel trolling was fantastic. Have fun. Fish_More
Hi Frosty Gear wise you have it about right with an overhead for bottom bashing and trolling from the motorboat and a spin rod for casting from the dorys. Have not been on the MV Night Crossing. My most recent trip was on Kanimbla which was a good boat. Let me know if you want anymore specific on gear (rod, reel, rigs etc).
