anthman
Hi all, I just watched a video on YouTube where the host was complaining about the wind and rough swell whilst on the boat- BUT proceeded to drop a berley pot and cast out what looked like a squid jig under a small float, sure enough, the rods were thinking and the squid were on. Never thought to try this - has anyone done it with success? Any tips on berley that you were using, depth of the berley pot, depth of the float for jig etc... recurve
Have had Squid come right to the back of the boat when Burleying from the boat. So yes, in my experience they come in for Burley. Or maybe the activity it creates.
campr
I have had 3 sqid at different times come to boat while burleying for yakkas with bread. All were hot to trot and readily took a jig. I'm sure they were attracted by the bait fish rather than the bread. Ron
sam bros
They are mainly sight feeders, so dont think berley would help that much It probably attracts the bait fish which in turn attracts the squid
JonD
I've had them attack the baits we are catching in the burley trail quite often. Maybe it's more to do with the frantic behaviour of the bait fish in the burley that attracts them rather than the burley itself.
