Volitan Posted November 4, 2018 Share Posted November 4, 2018 Ive been to South West Rocks a few times and also was land based. I had a good time fishing at the mouth of the river, on the Southern side along the rocky breakwall. I caught rat kings and saw some bigger models there. Don’t underestimate this spot - even when it looks quiet there will be some good hoodlum kings and jewfish about. The current can make it hard. I don’t fish live bait myself but if you could get a livie out far enough and pinned down against the current you should get a taker with patience. as I’m sure you’ve already worked out you won’t be far from Hat Head.
