marks1984
Hey all, Random questions do bass turn off during winter?? also dose it make a difference if a closed waterway (dam) or a open water way for the fish to bite

dirvin21
They still bite... in rivers and creeks they'll be in the brackish but you still get bigger fish upriver that don't bother to spawn In dams they generally school up in the lower sections just a matter of sounding up the schools Deeper slower techniques work best lije soft plastics As mentioned above in rivers and creeks they're catch and release only from may to August (inclusive)
noelm
The Bass fishing in the Shoalhaven I have done is probably no different summer or winter, but, technique and location changes, in Summer they can be caught as far as you can take a boat inland, and further if you have a kayak or walking, and they tend to take more surface type lures, in the winter they are way down in the salt, and take weighted plastics or diving lures, that said, I don't know a lot about them, and only fish for them now and then.
