shingshang
hi raiders. just wondering if anyone here uses one and whats the advantage if any in rear drag?
Guest Jewel
The supposed advantage is that the drag is easier to get to ie. you dont have to reach around the line and as it is housed inside the reel less likely to get crap into it. In reality not a big difference, additionally the drag washers tend to be significantly smaller than a front drag so more prone to heat issues on fast long running fish. All that said there are some fine examples of these type of reels about and in a majority of situations they perform fine.
Bashir
I used to use one for fishing 1kg line other than that I reckon they aren't that great nowdays. The old Abu rear drags were great reels. Front drags are easy to service, but if you plan on fishing light line classes with lots of line out a rear drag is great as they allow very fine adjustments of the drag. kevvie
every rear drag reel i have owned has eventually developed a 'sticky' drag system. I dont personally recommend em... front drags arent that hard to get to.
