Steering wheel adjustment

Hi guys, this has been bugging me for sometime now, when my motor is in the straight position my steering wheel isn’t, is this a simple adjustment??, is it just a matter of taking off the cover and removing the nut and reposition the steering well??, any info would be appreciated.

Regards

Muz

The wheel is on a key and taper, it is possible to move the position but it's a lot of fiddling around, unless you have an adjustment on the end of the link that connects the cable to the motor, sometimes you can move the link to another hole on the motor arm, but not always., a different length link will also be a possibility.

When you pop of the cover does it have a series of bolts that hold the wheel on or a single nut.

If its series of nuts then its easy, to undo and spin the wheel and re-bolt it on,

If its a single nut with a Keyway then you have to remove the steering of the back, spin the shaft and wheel then slide the steering back on. Also some do have multiple Key ways to have some choice on the wheel.

(YouTube Vid attached to show the different types of Steering Wheels, not how to fix it)

If going to trouble of removing wheel to set straight,  make sure to get right position.   Next time running boat go to protected area out of wind and current and run boat at speed and mark wheel and ßtem so you can set wheel straight at home before removing it.  Ron
