Finding Baitfish ?

Is there a special technique to finding baitfish out there ?

Do you just move around slowly looking for that ball on your fish finder ?

Might need a bit more info, do you mean offshore or close in to known bait grounds?

I'll be mostly going out of Port Kembla harbour in Wollongong, looking to fish up to 5nm from the coastline

There's Yellowtail right at the ramp, plus just outside the harbour, around most of the islands, just use burley and they will come around, you will see other boats in close catching them.

End of the breakwall as you drive out from the ramp - bit of bread/pillie mix as burley and you will fill your tank. Much more around if you get there when it's dark/sunrise - the light off the wall attracts them - most of the time you don't need burley or even bait just throw a jig down and that's enough.
