Offtherockss
I have a heavy (stiff) 8'2" popper/stickbait rod that I use for casting large lures and baits. Should I be using this rod to throw knife jigs and metals (shore jigging) etc? Or is the rod tip too stiff? Rebel
Give it a go. We all have to experiment. Cheers.
dirvin21
It'll still work especially shore based
little fisho
it will work but you might have some trouble with lighter weighted or thinner jigs
campr
Check out the specs on the rod before 1st runner. Should state max casting weight and use this as a guide for starting point and experiment with weights from there. Should be ok but length may limit your distance. Will1702
It will still work but its not ideal. Shore jigging requires more specialised rods. They’re usually around 10ft, relatively soft tip and can double as stick baiting rods, however with poppers you’d be limited to smaller sizes.
