rebehy
I went out to the wedding cakes a few days ago with some live yakkas and burleyed up. One yakka was weighted down a few metres and the other one was drifted out surface with a balloon float. My burley trail brought in clouds of bait fish and soon I could see some rats swimming around between them (not feeding though). I reeled in one of my lines only to find it was being followed by a legal size Kingy. I could have sworn the thing winked at me before cruising away. This heppened to me so many times and I must have sighted 6 or 7 large fish including one salmon that would just fix on my bait curiously without striking. I swapped the live bait for a lure and started casting surface retrive but no luck. I was hooking the yakkas through the back. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why I had such close calls without any strikes? Thanks guys.
Sharky
Try going down in trace size mate they are picky some times I know guys that go to clifton gardens and the only way to make them bight is to drop down to 8-12 pound trace makes for some exciting kingy fishing
KingsRule
Yeaa i agree with sharky, at clifton the only whay i have been to hook one is on 7kg line no trace. Maybe try using fish pieces like pilchard chunks or a slice or a fillet.
