adkel53
Can anyone tell me whether the slimy "snot weed" that was around in Botany Bay in early December is still prevalent? It made crabbing impossible where we put our nets and traps at that time and I am wondering whether it is worth the effort of driving for an hour to try again. noelm
Don't know about Botany, but it was bad in Lake Illawarra too, but it's starting to go, maybe the crabs and so on will start moving again soon?
Mike Sydney
@adkel53 it was still around when i fished near the port botany boat ramp New Year’s Eve. Plenty of big clumps on the sand flat. The rain just been might’ve cleared it up some but I’d be surprised if it’s gone. Spoke to some crabbers pulling pots up Friday night at cooks river mouth, they had nothing in their traps and were disappointed but didn’t say anything about the weed either way. I fished surface so don’t know if weed was there too or not.
