frankS
Hi I am looking for a cheap 2nd hand marine radio just to log on and off when going outside fishing. Was thinking of just getting small hand held V H F but they are only 3-5 watt power and I am not sure of their range, there may be times when I am out as far as the shelf. I am already well over my budget on this boat so need as cheap as possible. Just thought some member may have an unwanted radio transmitter that they need to get rid of. Frank Marine antennas are specific to the frequency band of the radio. Having the incorrect antenna may damage the radio (when transmitting) 27Mhz radio antennas should not be used ona VHF marine radio (and vice versa) It is also not wise to use one of those antenna combiners (eg VHF plus AM/FM)

And the very reason I have to find one of my old antennas. I bought a 27 mhz radio and it is incredibly hard to get a 27 meg antenna to suit a fibreglass boat, plenty around that are ground dependant but can't find one for a glass boat.
