  1. Hey guys!

Now i know there is a boating section but thought its sole purpose of lure fishing that i might get a better response in this section :)

First off i would like the boat in the 4.5-5m range (give or take) prefer ally and is ok in some decent chop (Botany bay) but still stable when still and walking around.

Im a metal fabricator and im pretty handy with the ally tig so i was after just a hull and i would build casting decks, console, storage, live well, electric mount bracket ect ect myself

I have been looking into the stacer pro range, anglapro outlaw and know about ones like hornets but i was just after feed back from possible owners or people who have had a little experiance with these vessels

I was also looking into using around a 40-50hp Yamaha motor as im keen to have a go at comps in the future and maybe go out side chasing reds when the sea's are nice :biggrin2:

Any help would be great guys

    Pete

check out the ally craft- kakadu karriers and trail crafts boats...

  2. They should last up to 72 hours with an aerator, but under 24 hours if no water change and no aerator.

Same goes for beach and blood worms.

Although you can store beach worms in dry sand for up to 3 days as long as they are in a cool moist area (like under a house or caravan) and they wont stink or anything if done properly, lol

Great bait all worms, top for the beaches, rivers and freshwater, lol

Good luck what will you be chasing on them???

    Tight lines

thanks mate, i ended up useing them all today anyway.

i got 8-9 whiting from tiny up to 26cm..all released obviously.

the bloody wind threw out my original spot..

we also use the sand method for the beach worms but this is the first time ive collected and used squirtys..

    cheers.. stevo..

  3. hello all, ive got a bucket of squirt worms and im just wondering if i need to put an airator in it to keep them alive?

ill hopefully use them tonight but if i dont use them all, how long will they last??

    thank you..stevo..1fishing1.gif

  4. An open invitation has been extended to recreational fishers to attend a talk by Robert Brown MLA on Thursday evening 19 August at South Sydney Amateur Fishing Association clubhouse on the cnr of Hastings Avenue and Macquarie St Chifley.

The evening has been organised by the St George Hunters and Anglers Association. Robert will be speaking around 7pm. A BBQ and refreshements will be available following Robert's presentation.

With the Shooters and Fishing party fielding Senate candidates in all states for the coming Federal election the evening will present all recfishers with the opportunity to personally raise their concerns with Robert and the party.

i cant make it but thanks for the heads up.

as someone who hunts and fishes i am glad to see the two partys teaming up for the good of the cause..

  5. do you have any friends in the panel beater/spray painter trade??

    if not find one.haha

a friend of ours has a small rust/panel shop and he did dads 5m haines hunter.

mates rates was about $300 but we did most of the prep work ourselves.

so maybe take some pictures around to a few panel shops and try your luck but id say probebly look for a smaller sized shop as the bigger ones usually are not interested.

    good luck.. :1fishing1:

  6. hey mate, ive got one.

ive only towed my 12ft tinny from the central coast to south west rocks a few times, the car was pretty chockas as well. it towed it fine but chewed through the juice a bit 16l/1ookm from memory, but thats the petrol 2.4..

  7. gday guys took the boat out yesterday and used a minn kota for the 1st time,

got the hang of it relativly quickly but couldnt work out how to use the auto pilot ?

each time i pressed the auto pilot button the leccy would just cruise off wherever it felt like.

now im not exactley sure what auto pilot is supposed to do, but i thought that if or when auto

pilot is used it basically keeps you at the same spot as where auto pilot was launched,

    am i right ?

any info would be greatly appreiciated.

    cheers hamerz.

p.s FYI its a minn kota 55pd riptide auto pilot.

hey mate, the autopilot is basically a compass attatched to the motor.

say your moving to a nearby spot- you POINT the motor in the exact direction you want to go then press the button, then set the speed you want travel at(press the con button for foot free use) and sit down and relax..

the autopilot will automatically compensate for wind and boat resistance.

if you want it to help you stay in the one spot in the current, first set the direction into the current turn it on then adjust the speed to that of the current..

    hope this helps..stevo.. :1fishing1:

  8. Hey guys Me and a few mates are going to NZ for a ski trip early july and in the off time i think i might try wet a line also :)

We are staying 3 nights in christchurch and 5 at mt hutt and was goin to try out the local trout and maybe do some salt water fishing as well, maybe even a charter to chase some of the big reds out there :biggrin2:

Anyways i was just wondering what gear we are aloud to and not aloud to take as i have heard that you cant either bring used line or bring back used line and alot of other things too like you can not use open plastics ect ect.

We will be spinning not fly if that helps but if anyone has experience with doing this or even some places to try out would be a great help

Well thanks for any help in advance

    Pete

ive only been saltwater fishing over there, but if australian customs here the words (freshwater fishing) your probebly in for some delays on the way back..

but you can bring back frozen snapper fillets if you wish, due to the saltwater. :1fishing1:
