    Longreef

i was out there about a week ago aswell and managed a good mixed bag. i was fishing in 30 metres and hooked into something massive which would have been a monster of a groper and fought it for 30 minutes then it busted the 40 pound braid i was fishing with. rod was like a horse shoe the whole time. i didnt get its head coming up when i first hooked it so it wud have swum right back into its hole and there was no getting it out. but i was happy either way because i go fishing outside all the time but last week was the first time ever i havent suffered from the effect of sea-sickness. was so happy.

    Boat Name

My dads boat came with the name ORCA which is pretty cool seeing as though its the same name as the boat from JAWS Mum joked that he shud put an "S" infront to make it sorca cos he is obsessed with soccer, and i joked that wen i get i'll put a "P" infront to make it PORCA cos as a kid my parents called me nathan porky bacon :S bit weird but anyway My favourite name for a boat wud have to be WET DREAM. i saw it on Lake macquarie and was stunned by the creative thought that must have gone into it
  4. my best fish from the lake was produced from little balls of bread on an unweighted long shank hook. get bream galore that way
  5. that is a great catch and a massive flounder good work
  6. yeah i saw the same seal last saturday at 6am under the spit bridge and again on the way back in at 3pm. at 3pm it was floating in the middle of the channel with one flipper sticking straight up. i came to the conclusion that it was getting some sun and had its flipper up so no one hit it.

    Giant Bream

That's a thumper i caught one that size when fishing off the back of a moored boat at lake macquarie, had it in the keeper net for 1hr (i keep checking because i couldnt believe the size) and then decieded to go back into shore, pulled up the keeper net and it was gone , somewhere in between me checking the net and three minutes later it was gone! but i showed every1 from shore and i did get a chance to measure it so it was better than getting it to the boat and then it getting away.

    Boat Names

i saw a good looking boat go past the other day with the name, "Wet Dream" and i thought that was pretty clever and that got me thinking if i should name my boat, and if anyone else has come up with a clever little name like that for their boat.
  13. this is a shot of one of the whales that swam past
  14. Yeah we did cut a massive slab of flesh from each side and steamed it, it has a texture like lobster but a crab like taste.
  15. Love the site never had the time to make my own report. Waking up at 5am is not easy for a 17 year old, but given the chance to get out there and catch some fish i was never going to turn it down. my dad, my neighbour, my brother and myself all headed out to long reef for some bottom bashing. My neighbours friend also headed out but seperated once we got to long reef. We started in 60 metres of water and had no luck however the other boat's first drift picked up 4 nice size snapper in 20 metres. so we joined them. had not much luck though. we had a few drifts and we pulled up was some nice size butchers unsavoury characters and 2 good size flattys. A good day on the water and even saw some amazing humpbacks swim past. has anyone ever seen a red rock cod this big? we are so used to chucking them back but the size of this one made us curious. i looked up their average size on the internet and on average they grow to 40cm, this one was almost 70cm! Had a great day out on the water
  16. Best Bait Lure: Slice, Slugs Tackle Link: 3kg main line. Hook: No. 8 - 4 Treble for lures. Rig: Light spinning gear. Hints Rapidly retrieved lures encourage strikes. Try a white painted barrel sinker as the lure. hope you get some.
  17. yeah i no ur pain! i caught thumper 47cm bream in lake macquarie and put it in the keeper net over the side of the boat. i checked it every few minutes i was so excited about showing every1! then i decided to go in! pulle up the keeper net and it was alot light than it was 10 minutes before. the 47cm bream i was excited about had swam out the top. and i was forced to go home empty handed!
