  1. To add cred to the thought that it was an editing stuff-up, the 'Beachwatch' section on the same page had the same crazy jibber. I have seen it a few times over the years. Anyway, always remember 'culpam poena premit comes' Matt
  2. Hi mate, Was down there last weekend. I got the opportunity to fish the Basin one morning only. I had the most success drifting close to the drop off into the channel out off Garden Island which is just out from the Island Point Road Boat Ramp, St Georges Basin. I got a few legal snapper and whiting and plenty of undersize bream and snapper. The legal snapper were all caught on whitebait and the whiting and bream on prawns. All on the drift ( I am too lazy to put out an anchor.) I tried hard with different plastics with no success. You will need a boat to fish that spot, I know they have little tinnies over at Sussex but I am not too sure about St Georges Basin. Those little ones at Sussex will take you an overnighter at full steam to get over to Garden Island. Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you went. Matt
  3. Great read Johnny. Well done mate.
  4. G'day Big Ray. By all accounts that is the first time Hutch has seen the water for a while. Evidently all he see's is crappy old buses driving around. Such is the price of success. Regards, Matt
  5. RP, Your in the wrong trade mate. What would Donkey 1 and Donkey 2 say about all of these homegrown modifications? I recon they would be impressed. MW
  6. Raaaaaay, Are those Ugg Boots your offsider is wearing in the first pic? Fair dinkum, is that his idea of deck shoes? If he didn't own the boat you would throw him over the side. No wonder you guy's didn't catch much, a fish would be embarrased to be caught by a man wearing uggies. Glad he aint my boss (anymore) Matt
  7. Hi Ray, Learn how to play one of those banjo's mate and you might be good enough to join The Gravy Train. I have heard the lead singer hogs the limelight though, that is something you will have to deal with. Matt

    Engine Type?

Bergo, I have a 30hp Yamaha 2 stroke (the most basic version) on a 4.15m tinny. It is a SeaJay tinny with high sides and the motor pushes it and two blokes along beautifully. It takes a couple of pulls to start when cold, then will start first pull all day. I can't speak highly enough of it as a motor, it has never let me down. I don't take much notice of fuel consumption as I have run around fishing all day and still had fuel left in the tank. It runs Yamalube oil at 100-1 and you see barely any smoke at all. I am no expert but for what it is worth, that is my recommendation. Matt
  9. Those photo's are fantastic.
  10. You pair have some serious issues Ray. That looked like good weather for ducks. Well done all the same. Imagine how much better you would go if you didn't spend the afternoon baiting someone's hook and taking off the fish he catches. Matt
  11. Well done Belly. Looking forward to learning all your well guarded secrets soon mate. Matt
  12. Just flicked you a PM.
  13. Look forward to hearing of your successes. Where will you be trying?
  14. Well done Ray. What did you get him on - bait or lure? Matt
  15. Is there any concern that people will post messages just to get over the magical 20 posts? Bingo, this is No 20 - bring on S & S!
  16. Ray Some people are just disrespectful grubs. Of most concern is the fishing line, which would indicate that it was dfiscarded by a person that should know much better. Take it easy mate. You and Hutcho heading out this weekend? Matt
  17. Take one to Rex Hunt's house and see if he will give it a kiss.
  18. I will be doing whatever my wife and 13 month old daughter choose for me to do (penants for the upcoming boys fishing trip to Sussexs Inlet in two weekends time - can't wait!)
  19. Well done, that is an awesome effort.
  20. Well done, what a great looking fish.
  21. Ray, Your stories would have heaps more credibility if the pictures didn't include your mate there. Probably just a snag anyway. Shame he can't concentrate that well at work, he would be running the joint. Matt
  22. Caught one on a prawn a few years ago drifting for flatties just near the mouth of Oatley Bay. Pure fluke I think. We freaked out that mych we didn't know what to do with him and he eventually spat the prawn and swam off. There is some weed around those parts so you may have some luck in between Oatley Bay and Caravan Head. Good luck. C'n'R
  23. Hi Jay, I have had some success in the past drifting out of the 'Coal Wall' for flatties and bream. Also enjoy fishing in and around Limeburners Creek. Just a beautiful part of the world the Hastings River and it's tributaries. Enjoy yourself. C'n'R
