  1. Finin, Thanks for the update, I'm taking the Boab (hire) Centre Console out for a trip, so Botany Wide I think is just a little to far out (15NM limit), plus taking a few green mates and the Mrs out for the day. Do hope to get some warm water and give one of them a workout and a feed. Depending on the weather thinking I'll try (with the crowds) Sydney (19)FAD, and let the fish and conditions decide from there, probably north for there direction. Will post a report post event.
  2. Nice report, heard of any action out at the FAD's? Heading out this Friday wondering if its worth the trip or stay in a bit closer.
  3. Recently moving back to the northern beaches I'm looking to get back into some beach fishing. Anyone interested in showing me some good places or trying it out? Nights and weekends. I've been fishing for years so know what it is and where it goes, just lacking the local knowledge, but some great looking gutters and holes around from the recent swell. Dave
  4. Hey SunnyBoy, Thanks for the heads up I may just put your experience into play this weekend. How deep is it off North Curly Rocks? Never really do the rocks as I normally have to fish alone. 1 - 2am sure is a early start, At least it won't get much colder after that hour, but I'm up for it at this stage. Dave
  5. Hey, Mate I'm still new to the northern beaches and Sydney fishing so have just been trying different spots here and there to test my luck. Was considering somewhere along narrabeen beach, but am easy. If you think a spot will produce I'm will to give it a go. Live at Harbord, so the Manly do would be nice and close for me. Dave
  6. Anyone up for a cast? Was thinking about hitting one of the beaches at night and maybe a squid, wouldn't mind a cast during the sunlight hours too if someone is up for it? Dave
  7. Hey Stumpy, Are you Land or Floating fortress? I'm restricted to land but was considering a cast or two. Should be a clear and bright night! Dave
  8. Hey all, Just moved to the northern beaches, and looking to get into the action, I'm restricted to land, unless someone needs a deckie. Typically fish the beaches but will give all areas a go. Anyone out there keen to show me the spots/ need a fishing mate? Night or day, sun or rain. Doesn't bother me... jut the storms make me a little edgie since I typically wave around 13ft of graphite, but hey could liven the place up a bit Dave
  9. Hey Rhysy, I'm new to the Northern Beaches and Sydney area, I'm restricted to land based fishing too but am always up for a cast, yep even in the rain.... PM me if you ever wanna fishing mate. Dave
  10. So typically a desperate ad boatless kinda guy, always fishing the beach I have once again jumped at the opportunity to go to broughton Island for the long weekend. I know the Ocean has been looking mean these last few days but it's going to clear up, I hope. Are there any fish around? I hear the currents have been strong in some places... Any ideas? Hell I don't just want to drink all weekend, or maybe I do... But catching fish always adds some excitement and lets me take a breath between beers and the occasionaly burly.
  11. Salmon are a fair to good eating fish by my standards, although the bigger they are the drier they tend to be when cooked. I've found that the smaller ones are great when cooked as fillets etc... With the bigger ones they start lacking flavour that we enjoy in our many reef fish, my advice, fish cakes. Damn eay to make, alls you need is a few salmon and a few spuds, crumbed with a few herbs. beautiful on the BBQ with some lemon juice. Just remember bleed them asap and cut out the red lateral muscles before cooking. You can't go wrong. Dave
