  1. You must be missing the final hitch in the Blood knot, the knot will clench tight when done properly. Doubling your line through the eye is a must IMO. You'll be tying you hook to mono or fluoro carbon as a leader anyway, so that won't solve your problem.
  2. That is one nicely prepared fish, my mouth is watering. Well done, great catch.
  3. Good mate, I've never been to Jocos house, I seen you two while I was driving and pulled over to say G'Day.
  4. Thank you. I reckon you're right, BIG fish in the next month. Thanks mate. Big fish happen like that when you least expect it, going for Bream... got smashed by a Big Bass, go figure. Keep trying in the Nepean, it holds crackers.
  5. Thanks mate, it's a great system, sadly one of the first places to cool down, and shut down in the middle of winter, so get out there and enjoy it while it lasts. Thanks mate. I couldnt be happier with the reel, eats my Jap made Sustain 1000. The drag is so smooth, such a gradual application of pressure with no drag pressure spike or stickiness. I've fished with a Stella 1000, which was lovely to use, but I'd be just as, if not happier using this Certate. Love the shallow spool. That drag is what helped land me that Bass, just the right amount of pressure. I would buy one again, and do recommend them. Gun bream reel. Mick
  6. Thanks mate, she made my week. After donuts in the Dams of late, i needed a good one. I still can't believe how much drag pressure she pulled. Mick
  7. Any time mate, I'm off work weekends and keen to fish. There are EP schooling there too, I caught two to 32cm on Saturday. You and Bassboy will love it up there, there is chance of a 50+ Bass there, and you can go for a Jew too on the tide change, I got a 50cm soapie a couple of months ago there. I got lucky hooking her in the side of the mouth, it allowed me to turn her left as she bolted for the tree. I hope I'm a chance for the COTM fingers crossed. Mick
  8. Thanks mate, These heavy rains have stirred up the Bass I think. Mick
  9. This can be arranged. Are you Joco's mate daniel? I met you once with Joco.
  10. Good fun session, should be a good year for some big blue nose Bream, this muddy water will help out in long run.
  11. Thanks, all it takes is one good one to have a good session. Thanks, I got lucky she bolted about 3 meters away from a submerged tree and made a left turn, she would have done me over if she wanted to, for about 30 seconds she was in control. I've been done over there before, it burns for weeks, but today was my day.
  12. We must of caught the same fish, I got a 48cm Bass at about 4pm in the Georges, they go hard on light gear don't they! Got mine Salt water side of Georges, Black Bream by catch. Mick.
  13. I didn't know they still swam the horses from Warwick Farm in the river, one just couldn't resist taking a bite at my Peanut Butter and Jelly 2" PowerBait Grub. All jokes aside, this specimen of a Bass stripped some line off my little Certate 1003 with 6lb Sunline with brute force, she hit the lure like it was her last feed. I was being punished.....punished for fishing light tackle for Black Bream in very Bassy looking water. Nick, with net in hand ready, seen some Bronze and called it for a monster flatty, moments would pass while I bridled this mare to the boat, and her true identity would become known.... a cracking wild Bass. At a whopping 48cm, this girl made my day. Photos just don't do it justice, it looked like a football. Fishing was very slow, water still very murky. Mick
  14. Crazy... can't wait till it settles Mick
  15. Well i can forget a flick in Chippo anytime soon, there goes that idea. Hate chocolate milk water. Mick
  16. They sound like big kings. Caught Kings on my Saragosa 8000 with no trouble, got an 18000 now too that need christening. You sound like you know what you're doing, but you know that shimano is gonna accuse you of using the reels like a winch. Good luck. Mick
  17. I down rigged a big bully mullet all through the hacking in my kayak, there is no reason why it wouldn't get smashed, but my mullet didn't get touched. I'd much prefer casting large lures for them, if you've got an electric Mick
  18. Look at a Holden Colorado (Isuzu built) 3l Turbo Diesel in Auto, or Isuzu Dmax (Same as Colorado) My mate Che and I have both got one, and they are tough as nails. Mine has half of ARB bolted on with lockers, compressor, snorkel, suspension lift, canopy, steel winch bull bar with driving lights and fog lights, steel side rail sidesteps, steel rear step tow bar, Rhino roofracks, and 3mm steel underbody protection. $39000 for the car, $18000 ARB = $57000, that's what I call a deal. My car allows me to have my boat on the back, a kayak on the roof, two labradors in the back, baby on the back seat, Mrs in passenger seat, and a kangaroo on the front bar... all at the same time. It's the most versatile car I've ever owned, and I love it, I wanna scream it from the top of a mountain. Mick
  19. IMO, nothing beats finesse fishing my favourite soft plastic ever: the Powerbait 2" grub Bream love them, and we've had a 93cm jewie landed on one of these. Mick Coincidentally, the high 30's Bream in my Avatar has one hanging out of it's mouth.
  20. Donuts for us, why did we even bother? The guys with a 19' Skeeter in the cabin next to us have been here all week and haven't raised a thing, Blowering tomorrow.
  21. We won't resist rolling a Jackall through a feeder creek. I read an article the other day regarding fishing after the floods in QLD, same should apply in NSW. I've got all senses covered with a S Factored Jackall: Smell, Taste, Feel, Sight and Sound Mick
  22. Fantastic effort, wouldn't mind having a crack at them landbased myself Mick
  23. Will that be enough to entice the Yella and Cod at a 103% iced coffee coloured Burrinjuck dam? We're going on Sunday for an early pre-fish to the comp in April. Anyone done well in dams after the big rain? First plan is to go to spots to where we know holds good fish, then try the shallows, then the deep, then the timber, and then a troll. Can't wait Mick
