  1. Hello Fishraider,

My girlfriend and i are heading up the coast to Nambucca Heads for the first time.

I will be bring my light gear tackle, flicking plastics, as usual.

Need advice, if possible, to find out what i should target and preferably a location.

Any advise via return post (via PM) would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    Joey

  2. HAHHAHHAHA with that kind of option i would not think twice either...

WELL done on another successful Bass adventure.....

You need to take me out on a kayak session... Never done it before!!!

Daniel and I are looking at getting a couple of Hobies sooner or later :)

  3. I wonder if there are some biggens there? Joey, by the way some nice photos there, who took them haha!!

I too wonder if there are any bigger ones.... Bigger ones meaning 100cm+

HAHAHHA nice photo capture by NICK himself.... Made the Jewie look x10 times bigger :yahoo:

    Nice one joco

NOT as big as yours :mad3::ranting2::biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

  4. Joco....1 word...jealous...i have been Jew hunting all month at my spot in Como fishing the run out tide at sunset trying to acheive my first daylight Jew using similar gear, i have managed 1 massive strike of my TT Blade but it took me under a rockwall and being LB i had no chance...... can i also ask what time of the day you were fishing?? also the approx depth?? i think i am doing the right thing, however it looks like you know what you are doing....and any advise for a jew virgin will be appreciated mate...cheers

With Jews at chipping norton, the only tide i caught then was on the RUN OUT TIDE.

Aim for the rock walls, drop offs, and dont be afraid to work the plastic really fast (hence the heavy jig head), as the water is warm at 20 degrees and the fish/bait fish are very active.

  5. The other day went out for a morning session with Nick targeting Jewies...

Never caught a Jewie during daylight hours so i was a bit skeptical, while Nick was doubting whether there were any Jewies at ALL in Chipping Norton. I was determined to prove him wrong....

Using my light gear as usual, 4 kg rod, 1000 reel, 4 lb braid, 10lb leader, fat jig head, we started working the rock walls.

We got smacked a couple of times but failed to produce..

    BUT persistancy paid off.

My first Jewie during day light hours, giving the reel a good workout... NOT the biggest jewie BUT plenty of fun on light gear...

Rest of the day prodcued many flatties and at the end, concluded our session with another Jewie...

Thanks heaps to Nick for the opportunity, NOW he has an excuse to fish the local waters more and more

PS - Apologies MICK for MMSing you photos of the fight caught, while you were at work, now you know how i feel

See you on the water soon...

  6. Hello raiders,

Last minnute decision, went with my miss, and another couple to The Entrance for a couple of nights..

Weather was predicted terrible :1badmood: BUT it didnt stop me from bringing my flick stick..

Upon arrival it brought back memories from the last Fishraider Social

Saturday morning, my mate and i sneaked out of our bedrooms and ran down to the beach for a morning flick.

Surf & the wind was medium to heavy.

Using a 4kg rod, 1000 reel, 4lb braid, 10 lb leader i wacked on a healthy 1/2 oz (14g) jig head with a squidgy paddle tail..

My mate laughed at me and shook his head :ranting2:

Many of the beach fisherman holding their 4-5m heavy duty rods where questioning what we were doing with a whip stick..

By the look on their faces they were laughing amongst each other....

10 minutes into the session and i was on, running down the beach, with the current, reel screaming trying to pull out the sucker...

Reel was set to 80-90% drag and line was still pealing off....

LOVE a good salmon fight, on light gear, especially in the surf :yahoo:

Good 3-4 minutes later i had to skull drag the fish in, waiting for a wave to beach the fish....

I was afraid if i pull the rod any harder, it would snap into pieces, i made a decision to grab the line, and straight away it snapped, lucyk the fish was already beached & gave me enough time to grab it before the next wave hit the bank...

Next couple of casts i was on again, this time the fight took longer :yahoo:

ONCE again there was i, running down the beach, chasing the bloody fish, GREAT way to exercise :1prop:

    theentrance4.jpg

Short time later 5 jet skiis came and started doing AMAZING jumps, spins, 360's, on the waves, had cameras mounted on their helmets...

NEVER seen anything like it... The fellas were literally flying....

They must have scared the fish off, so we packed up and left...

That same day in the late afternoon, i went by myself, the beach was littered with fisherman...

ONCE again walking past the fisherman, i was questioned several times, "do you catch fish on that thing?"...

I didnt know whether to answer or ignore their questions,so i giggled...

5 minutes into the session i was on and this time with a PB flatty caught off the beach...

Caught on the same gear but this time with a plastic slug...

Measured 66cm and put up a great fight...

Walking past the fisherman with dinner in my hands, nothing was said as i walked passed :074:
