  1. Nice bass mick, what part of the river were you getting the hits from.Ive been fishing the river (weir end ) for the past couple of weeks and only managing small ones up to 20cm.

    Regards Shauno :1fishing1:

just past the narrows mate, drifting along and casting into the banks

  2. I took my tinny out to the nepean this afternoon in the rain for my first fish of the year. Not a bad start either, about 20 bass ranging from very small to about 30cm. I was using trusty old black cicada's around the edges as usual and they were hitting them consistantly, I had around 10 get offs aswell. My good arvo turned shite real quick on the way home when a flat tyre :05: on the trailer had me putting boat and trailer (12ft boat+trailer on 8ft tray) on the back of my ute on the M4. Must have looked funny to other drivers but i got it on, Maybe i will stop being such a tight arse and invest in a spare. Only one photo on the camera phone sorry. Anyway happy new year everyone.. Mick

  3. It came out of about 10m of water, It didn't seem to have any trouble swimming off, not knowing what it was i didn't pop it, come to think of it i have seen a similar thing come out of the side of a leatherjacket about a year ago in pittwater, he didn't make the swim home though

  4. just thread them on a baitholder hook, see if you can get your hands on some thin red tubing or red beads rig them on a running sinker with the beads above the eye of the hook or about 5cm of red tubing on your leader above your hook and fish the edges of ribbonweed and weedy beds as this is where the whitings food sit and they forrage around here. use minimal wieght and small hooks around size 4 longshanks.

    hope that helps.

    cheers pk.

    Thanks heaps mate

  5. what worms in particular are they and what are you targeting them with and in the surf or estuary???

try and get some baitholder type hooks with little spikes on the shank that hold the worm upright. apart from this in general thread it onto the hook unles you are at the beach and fishing for bigger species where youd try and cram as many/much on the hook to entice a biggun!

    cheers pk

they are sea worms, i will be using them around the harbour chasing whiting

  6. gday mick,

i see your from greystanes aswell mate.

well i have just got a new humminbird fish finder and im all geared up to take the boat out. just gotta wait till christmas is over!

thanks for the tips with the lures and locations, appreciate it alot because otherwise id be pretty much taking a stab in the dark. i will definetly try the gorge.

another question, i have 6lb berkley fluorocarbon line on my spinning reel at the moment, do you think this will be suitable for bass fishing?, i use this reel+line for trout and the line was pretty good last time i used it, got a brown just over 1.3kg with it.

that should be fine, I have 4lb mono line and 8lb leader, the light line will help you cast the light lures good distance

  7. I get a similar sound on my 70hp Evinrude, I think it is due to the lack of a clutch, There is nothing to help mesh the spinning gears so they clunk, (try putting your car in gear with no clutch).

    Mick

  8. Hey Blayne

The gorge is just past the narrows, about a k upstream from the ramp, i've been up there a fair bit this year and caught planty of small/medium sized bass on river2sea black cicada lures. Can any raiders suggest some sp/jig head combinations i could try?

  9. More Problems!!!

I rewired the bilge today (with inline fuse and strainer) and found that the top of the battery has sustained some damage, there is a hole through to one of the cells, will this affect my battery?

  10. I have not long ago purchased a second hand boat and today the wiring melted due to a short in the bilge pump. It was wrapped in a stocking and it got caught up inside. I am going to have to rewire and replace the bilge pump. So it goes but my question is.. Should the pump be wrapped in a stocking or is this a malpractice that nearly caused my boat to burn to the ground?

  11. I just brought a half cab fiberglass boat and it is great... execpt for the yellow/mustard/white coulour scheme. Does anyone know the best way to paint these boats. do they need to be rubbed back and primed ect. Also what is the best product to patch a hole if i ever get one? Cheers Mick

  12. What track is that? what class and grade did you race in? i see you ride a chainsaw :074:

Thats grass track at Dargle, I raced B grade in lites, I wouldn't go calling is a chainsaw because my husky chainsaw is powerful and reliable, that bike was neither if i buy another one it will be red or blue!
