  1. nice idea's guys! I'll give them a go over the weekend. too windy to get out.
  2. I've got water in one of the underfloor compartments (savage escort 5.1m glass boat). where the floor fuel tank is i have bung going left, right, forward to what should be water sealed compartments (floor was recently replaced), but I'm getting water (fresh not salty) water in one side, which I presume is from rain (I get about a bucket of water every 2 months). But I cant find out where its getting in. Anyone have any idea's? best so far is to stick a flare in the bunghole and see where the smoke comes out? Or is it possible water coming from the ocean is getting in, but salt is getting filtered out?
  3. Standard escort 4.9 shape. But with that hardtop and seems to be reverse seat brackets. I have seen a pic of this exact one before on the Internet. Do an image search for savage escort. Great Boat, I've had 2.
  4. I'm getting mine done as we speak at a place in the shire. Pm me if that location is useful. My boat building skills are limited to the damage I can cause with a drill.
  5. check out the Garmin 95SV. about same price range but does SideVu instead of Chirp, plus all of the other views.
  6. I looked into these as well. These are old fashion sonar. You could get a second hand, 7 year old Garmin, and have the same fish finding capability. Like above said, get a Lowrance 4 HDI or Chirp! latest price is well under $200. http://www.chsmith.com.au/Products/Lowrance-Elite-4x-CHIRP-Fishfinder.html The HDI is even cheaper! (I I reckon just as good).
  7. I went out on that second day as well in hacking. Was a lovely day, hit the water at 6am. Had my son on board as well. Stopped just off bundle a to get the boat in shape for the trip out and the the motor played up. Would not go over 1000rpm. Killed a day fishing with the boy. But I learnt a lot about getting towed and fixing boats!!! As long as you don't let yourself get frustrated and angry it's still a day out. The boat finally came to life after a couple of hour. We smoked it back into swallows as I would not trust restarting it again. Jibbon to swallow would be a long trip doing 3 knots.
  8. I just put a 4x in a savage. Very fat plug. Decided not to go through the transom but over it. Manage to get the rest of the runs ok. Use the supplied pin protectors when fiddling with the plugs. Haven't been out on the water yet but I couldn't pass it up at the price. Next season I'll get a Gen3 something.
