  1. Hi Folks I'm going up to Darwin in October. I want to do some serious fishing while I'm up there. Obviously, I want to try catch a barra and maybe hit the open seas or reefs for some big pelagics. Any suggestions from anyone on where to go? If you have been before and got some good contacts for charters, do you mind PMing me the details please??? Any help would be great.. thanks!!!
  2. Any reports of Tailor on the beaches around Sydney?? Wanted to take my dad out to catch a few off the beach. Wondering if anyone had any luck recently??
  3. Penguin. After it snapped off I got all my line back. I thought it may have been a ray but it didn't suck into the sand. Better luck next time I reckon.
  4. I went down to Clifton Gardens last week at night with a mate. We were just packing up with one rod left in the water with a pillie on a single hook. The rod bends and the 20lb line starts peeling. Both of us tried to get line back. Pump and wind, pump and wind, but nothing worked. After a few mins the 240yard spool was empty and the line snapped at the swivel. Whatever it was , it just kept running and couldn't turn it.
  5. I was as avoca rocks last week and these things demolished our baits. My pillie lasted all of 2mins. You could see them in the water. I tried to catch them with small hooks. Managed to drop 4 of them. Just pulled the hook somehow. My mate caught one. The skin peels like a leather jacket and it had a small horn on it's head. We managed one salmon as well before the jackets got to the bait.
  6. I was wondering if it was some polution in the harbour or something.
  7. I was out LB fishing with a mate yesterday. We saw huge leather jackets floating in the water at 2 different locations near Manly. They were still alive but just about to die. They were both about 40cm+. Anyone else see something like this or was it a freak coincidence?
  8. Ditto Boys!! It was a great day out. Pity the weather changed though, but we should do it again sometime!!!
  9. Hmmm it was somewhere near Avoca Beach. I forgot the name. We just drove around until we found a place.
  10. Hi folks My first post on the site, so here goes. I went down to the beach for an afternoon fish with my mate. We just grabbed a block of pillies and tried our luck. The first couple of hours it was pretty quiet. We changed spot a couple times looking for some gutters on the beach but the tide was at its lowest and the water was very shallow. Eventually we found the magic spot and the Salmon had arrived. We had lots of fun catching these but is was all over in about 45 mins. Here are a few pics of our catch. The biggest one was about 3kg cleaned.
