  1. Good on you Trapper JB is an awesome fishing destination. I was downrigging along the Beecroft cliffs a couple of weeks ago and was sourrounded by whales too They certainly make your boat feel super small when they surface 10M from you Looking forward to getting back there for summer
  2. land based options are endless in this area... you will love it. Some suggestions BIG XOS salmon and Tailor - Target Beach. You Have to drive out towards Currarong then take the Pt Perpendicular road out to Honeymoon Bay then park the car and walk about 1.5km but worth it. Fishes best on the incoming tide Stripeys, Salmon, Tailor & Bream - Fish the rocks at the entrence to the Crookhaven River but watch the high tide. Kingfish have recently been caught off the rocks at Penguin Head...might be worth a try. The beaches fish well on evening and night for all species including Bronze Whaler sharks. Good reef out the front of the Surf club. Hoping the lake also opens soon. If it does the fishing will go bezerk hope that helps
  3. Nowra visitor centre might have some maps too on your way through.
  4. plenty of reefs of Penguin and Crookhaven heads for snapper . New boat ramp at Currarong should be close to finished by now as well. See you down there on the water
  5. I can second that map. It is an excellent start. I have been fishing the area for 20 years or so. Seems to fish a little better on the run out tide. Fish the drop offs from the sand bar in front of Grenwell Point if you are out on the run in tide.
  6. That sucks I had all my fishing gear stolen this year so I sympathise.
  7. Thanks guys, I do use Inox liberally on all things marine. Thanks for your thoughts on the chain lube. I guess it is designed for all weather applications so I will wait and see how it goes on my beach reel. cant be any worse that when I got it.
  8. Hi there, I was wondering if any other raiders were using "alternative" lubricants for their reels, especially the bail arm roller? I was rebuiding a reel last night and the bail arm roller was seized with salt. I had a thought and grabbed a can of motorcycle chain lube and read it. It was the Sikolene stuff and read that it had anti corrosion proporties and a sticky dispositon as such. I put it on the roller and it seems to work fine. I am yet to use the reel but I was wondering if anyone else uses lubricants other than the regular oil or grease? Cheers, Fred
  9. Fantastic fish there, Caught one myself in the crookhaven river earlier this year at that size. Was a PB for me. a 75mm silver fox squidgy did the damage on my fish. was just as anxious to get her back in the water as you so no pics but I can agreee it is just a good a feeling when you see them swim away as when you see them surface and say to yourself "OMG" well done
