Me and a fellow fishraider and mate Bazzaa hit narrabeen lakes saturday night for a bit of a flick.
Headed out from our way late afternoon, got armed up with some live prawns and live nippers.
Got to the lake and it was pretty hot and sunny, flicked around a few gulps and mixed and matched them with nippers and live prawns on the jig head got smashed a few times but no hookups except for the stripies that were an absolute plague. Finally hooked what i thought was decent fish on a 5" nuclear chicked shad, felt like a flatty for a second then thought hang on feels different was a nice flounder which had swallowed the whole plastic, fully inhaled it. Time passed where there were many miss hits and throw backs, as the sun started to set bazzaa was on the a nice just over legal flatty, and the stripies kept coming.
Finally after a while of crap little peckers i got smashed well on the light gear on a live nipper and put up a nice fight on the 8lb braid, was a estuary perch lovely.....the father in law loves to eat them lol but there not my cup of tea, after a while i got smashed again but this time it was on a live prawn and we had our second EP on ice (got to keep the father in law happy lol)...just after the second EP was hooked up i looked down next to my wathers and lord and behold the prawns are on the run all around me i couldnt believe it, and heres me and bazzaa probably the only time we dont take prawning gear with us there everywere lol, ended of the night with a 30cm bream, plus we lost a few occys that felt like they had a bit of weight just dont have the scull drag ability on those plastcs setups. but most of all had fun and were away from the for while with no nagging lol.
PS if anyone fishes there beware of fred(the water rat we named) he loves bourbon as we found out when we seen him drinking from bazzaa's can of wild turkey i nearly died of laughter
Cheers
