  1. How many squid strips should I get from an average sized squid? Should they be skinny like a sluggo or wider, with slits cut at the end? Thanks.
  2. i'm after a whaft west of the harbour bridge to try for squid at night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. PS. Do those glow sticks help? Cheers.
  3. My friend is trying to join this website, however, his email address seems to be causing problems. He has a Hotmail and a Yahoo email address but neither seem to work. Please advise what email addresses are suitable. Thanks.
  4. Just wondering which boat ramp is best for fishing Middle Harbour? I'm hoping to fish North Head & The Spit for Kings. I'll be coming from the Western Suburbs. Thanks.
  5. Green crabs are best cooked as soon as possible, not frozen, or the meat goes mushy after being cooked. Crabs deteriorate quite quickly. If I ever catch a few blue swimmers, I cook them, clean them, the freeze the meat (only if I can't eat all thats been caught, rarely). Stan.
  6. Thanks Netic, I appreciate that.
  7. Thats where I have been looking, without success, hence the reason for the question. Please help.
  8. I have been reading your intriguing adventures catching Kingies and I'm hoping for some help in joining in on the fun. I was after some advice in the rig you use when using squid or yellowtail when downrigging. I have just bought a downrigger and was wondering, how long a trace to use and how long it should be trolled after the clip. Also, do you use a swivel when downrigging? Thanks in advance. Like most fishraders I look forward to reading your next report. P.S. I fish in Pittwater. P.P.S great work on all those great Kings, great to see your kids enjoying the fun.
  9. Fair enough, I had no idea where you were from. P.S. do you end up with many blue swimmers as a by catch?
  10. This may have already been mentioned, but I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion after the latest TV shows. It's hard because they both pose reasonable opinions. Rex or Byron. If I'm voting purely on what I've seen I vote Byron, great place, I'd Hate to see this hurt this area. Rex has too much to lose.
  11. Mud Crabbing, Stan again This is not an attempt to piss you or anyone else off, but I am wondering why after such a great haul in the Hawkesbury did you want to try the Georges? I only ask because if I'm onto something good I stick to it. P.S. that female was one huuuuge crab!
  12. Stan here, I'm biting my tongue this time. Anyway I was out on Monday with a mate, no muddies (again) but we did end up with 1 Blue Swimmer, not in the traps (10 witches hats and 2 mud crab traps) but on a mullet bait on a line with the remote chance of a big jewie. Maybe next time.
  13. OK I admit it, that was a pathetic post of mine. The fact that I'm not catching them doesn't mean the're not there & I don't see what mud crabbin has to gain but not tellling the truth. So, sorry Mud Crabbing and I hope your success continues. I think I had too many beers after the Melbourne Cup yesterday. I'll try to be a bit more positive in the future. Stan.
  14. Pugwash (great name) this "story" seems to unreal for me, if he jumped from a bridge I'm sure there would be plently of mud crabs to catch him.
  15. 14 Muddies in 1 day! Mate, you must be kidding, I have targeted mud crabs in this area for a long time, they do exist but in the number you mention seem unrealistic. Its a shame your picture doesn't show the Hawkesbury, just a crate of well ties crabs. We all have great days out but for a haul like that the Sydney Fish Markets would be my call. Negative first post, but I don't like peolpe getting others hopes up for nothing, petrol is too expensive. I'd love to see you prove me wrong, maybe a few photos of the crabs with your boat on the Hawkesbury.
