  1. Hi guys thanks to all the replies that gives me a few good options .When I get out there with the kids i`ll be sure to let you all know how it went. Cheers Steve
  2. Hi all, I`m generally a Kingfish chaser but my kids are starting to become interested in the fishin game,so I was wanting to take them fishing but I have no clue as to where to take them fishing for the more common bream or flathead in Sydney.Im based on land so it makes it harder...Has anyone got any hints as to where I could take a family in Sydney where its reasonably safe on land and in the Sydney area. Also the main part somewhere where I`ll catch some fish.Sizes dont matter as kids are happy to get bites.... Thanks all!!!! Steve..
  3. Dang I feel your pain!!!! I only catch fish off the rocks every time I`ve gone on the boats it has been unsuccessful on the kings, plenty of yakkas and the days over
  4. Hey top report and love those kings nice to see you have the patience to put up with tangles etc I just wish some of you lucky ones who catch the harbour kings would tell us the hiding spots I only seem to have luck off the rocks, good work anyways and keep it up on the tinny..
  5. Nice Kingies there mind saying where in Middle harbour you caught those?????
  6. Hi Raiders. I have been reading great reports recently on Kingfish being caught in good numbers in Sydney Harbour. After a year of waiting, myself and two mates hit Rose Bay at sunlight today headed over to Balmoral managed to catch some very smallish yellowtail in good time but then the hard part came in.We travelled to the Wedding Cakes to Clifton Gardens and Middle Harbour and with no luck finding the good old bouy just inside North Head we were in desperate need to even get a buzz from the reels. Not a single hit all day.We catch kings landbased 90% of the time but as soon as we sit in the boat nothing .....So was today just not a good fishing day or are we in the wrong places or are we just ot doing it right? Its very frustrating as we all know but I would really appreciate it if some of you pro`s out there could give us a few hints and tips if you think were fishing wrong or just point us in the right direction for kings and decent livebait grounds.Mind you we are limited to the calm Harbour as the boat is only little, Hope to hear from you guys thanks and cheers HELP ME!!
  7. hey I know the feelin of not knowin where to fish for Kings but I`ve learnt just recently that Avoca Rocks(south end) is a good spot for land based fishin for kings, theres many rats around but the odd legals are there to be caught by the patient fisherman, must get there early it can get a little packed at times,All you need is to get there not sure bout what public transport goes that way..But if you can get there good luck..Cheers steve...
  8. hi all, just a short note to say we had a not so bad day at avoca. got on the water around about 5.30 am started to fish for live bait and bingo there was a plenty to be had and all a decent size. ok hooked up the first yakka and tossed her in and within 20 minutes my first strike, but it was a tailor round about 50 cm not bad i do say so myself.then we watched all the other boys pull in kingies one after another, but hey all undersize and caught on lures. average size was about 45- 55 cm could not believe those idiots kept all the rats. we estimated about 40 fish were taken home NO WONDER THERE ARE NO BIGGIES LEFT but we done well caught three kings and all over 60 cm # 1 was 63 # 2 was 61 #3 was 62 so we were happy not a total waste of a day of fishin tight lines all John & Steve
  9. heyadam k i would love to know in what vicinity did you catch those magnificant kingies as we dont have much luck in the harbour. any little tip would be much appreciated. steve & john thanks
  10. Unlucky mate but for the Kings the rats seem to be the only Kings around even salmon and bonito are all small Biggies will come and the patient ones like you will take home the Goods, and fill the bbq...KEEP FISHING
  11. Hi YA all,John and I(Steve)Tried land based at South Avoca Rocks on Wednesday And after catching 5 or so livies the lil shits stared darting away from our rigs 5 seconds after the bait hit the water,We then noticed a shadow of a Kingfish, harrassing the livebait so we gave it a rest for a while and sat to wait for the buzz of the reels. There was plenty of Salmon and Bonitos being caught we could see them on the boil from the rocks for at least 2 hours in the morning, but we want the King. After cookin in the heat for a bit a guy fishin near us hooked a Kingfish and within 10 second of his landing John was on and so was I,Woooohhooo ..My first Kingfish ever caught I was over the moon..All day John cauht 2 Kingies all just undersize and a massive Stingray, and me 1 King undersize just too.All fish back in the ocean to be caught twice the size I hope, lucky too The Fisheries showed up to harrass the crowd and send a few unhappy fisherman home early with undersized and unlicensed. In all had a good day and Cheers to me my first Kingfish to hit dry land, now I want a legal one...Happy fishin all....
  12. Thanks to all the reply guys but as for berleying of course we do,I know i need to attract the little buggers, but I think baiting the the rig is a top idea thanks again and good luck to u guys,Thanks Steve
  13. Hello fisherman , John and myself(Steve) hit the water early on wednesday morning to arrive just inside north head to grab some live bait,,started well grabbed 1 instantly but after thet it took us bout 2 hours to get anymore whats the story 100`000`s of livies but they wont take the jig unbelievably frustrating for anyone..After eventually wasting half the morning on livies we finally got fishing for the King itself ,Tried Quarantine area Nothing, moved to wedding cake near clifton Gdns none again,by this time the yakkas were lookin good for nothingso we tossed em in for another life and started trolling thru the heads then up towards spit with only 1 scream from the rod lasting bout 20 seconds just off south head.. In conclusion it was a nice day on the water stuff all livies playing the game and as for the Kingfish in the Harbour,,I thinks they be on Holidays too.....Sydney Harbour Sucks Cant wait for my trip to Narooma to fish Montaque Island i heard its on fire down there, Wish me luck.... Happy fishing all!
  14. Hi fishermen,In the past few weeks I have read and heard that Kingfish of Decent size have been caught or seen in Middle Harbour/Sow Pig Reef Spit Bridge etc. However no one seems to be posting reports on any such success.....Any Verifications/Proof of these trips and catches in Sydney...............We all know the Harbour once held some mighty KINGS in its day,but has died off in previos years,Thanks All,, MORE FISHIN ..LESS WORKIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope it stops raining..
  15. g'day all went down to pittwater on saturday. got on he water pretty early, went straight to west head to catch some yakkas but they were not there at the time. so decided to troll the kingfish h'way down to scotland isle, but no such luck. came all the way back to west head and still no luck. tried for some more yakka and bingo. went to the wreck but nothing.stopped by the bommie and a mate hooke into a huge kingy .had a great fight with him and to no avail it snapped him off. they must be making a show finally.and that was it for the whole six hours.I would like to know where the hell these kings are hiding any takers.
