  1. Thanks mate I've been reading up on blackfish fishing with interest and it's nice to know that there's a good spot just down the road, one of these days I will have to shout out and get a blackfishing guru to show me the ropes (and the floats). Still keen to try our luck in the national park this weekend though, I shall make a report if the trip produces anything worthy. Cheers, Adam.
  2. Hey Raiders, Could someone please ID this guy for me? I'm thinking it's some kind of cod. Caught on a Berkley 2" Baby Shrimp in the Molting colour. These things were the only thing on the chew down at Thirroul beach on a run out tide, and the fact that they loved the rocks meant I lost a couple of jig heads pulling them out Was actually hoping I could find some flatties - so he was sent on his merry way. Are those pectoral fins poisonous? Cheers, Adam.
  3. Haha reading about jewies and kingfish beats the hell out of equitable choses in action any day of the week. If nothing else we should pick up a flathead or two! I just hope we don't get outfished by the other blokes.
  4. Hey raiders, Planning a day of fishing in the Royal National Park this Saturday with a couple of mates. We'll be bringing along light gear for throwing plastics and surf gear for the beach/stones. Any ideas where we should head? I like the idea of Wattamolla and Garie Beach since we may be bringing along some kayaks. There's not a lot of surf at Wattamolla, would it be a waste of time throwing shad style plastics? Also does anyone know if there are gates that are locked in the evening? We might be there till late if the action is good. Cheers, Adam. P.S Loving the site, providing a brilliant distraction from my studies
  5. I'm just starting to throw metal lures in the surf spinning for pelagics and I can tell you my 12ft Penn Powerstick (fibreglass) gets heavy fast! If you're looking to do the same I'd recommend something 2 piece and graphite in 9-10ft - still enough rod to cast past most breaks in the surf and less awkward on the stones and jettys. I haven't been doing this for very long but I reckon a 13ft will be too long anywhere bar the beach. Okuma X factor's are reasonably priced, otherwise look around for a cheap used livefibre. You haven't mentioned what sized reel you're looking to use either but this might factor into the decision in terms of balance. Cheers Adam.
  6. Sorry to hear about the gear, and even more so for the dog! My old Shepherd hated the fireworks too; jumped through a pane of glass once out of fear She too managed to get out of the yard and hit by a car. Would love to hear some feedback on the c14 when you've given it a proper workout - the colour scheme would suit my Diablo dropshot perfectly Perhaps check the local pawn brokers? Cheers, Adam.
  7. Hoping to test my 2-4kg Diablo out this weekend, seems very well put together for the price. EVA grips though, not that that really worries me. Cheers, Adam.
  8. Seems like the Trion has received glowing reviews all round.... makes me wonder why I just stumped up the cash for a one piece Berkley Dropshot Diablo for exactly this sort of fishing! Cheers, Adam - this may or may not be my first post here, I've been lurking for a little while now.
