  1. Awesome work, I knew there were bigger bream under the bridge... I'd just never seen one. Cheers, Adam.
  2. Awesome snapper. Might be some useful reading on releasing fish with 'barotrauma' (aka the bends) here Clicky Cheers, Adam.
  3. Nice work mate. Had my share of disappointments on the lake as well, especially when I bring anyone down to fish with me. Hopefully my luck will change this Summer too, the new Hobie will help. Cheers, Adam.
  4. Nice work mate, I can recommend Manns Stretch for the flatty on HB, nice action and not overly pricey Cheers, Adam.
  5. I just heard the terrible news that champion surfer Andy Irons succumbed to dengue fever, my thoughts go to his family and friends. I can't begin imagine how his pregnant wife Lyndie must feel. SMH Link Truly one of the all time greats, the sport is poorer without you Andy. My condolences, Adam.
  6. Nice Jewie mate! They can be hard to stop at the best of times, well done keeping that one from the oysters. Cheers, Adam.
  7. Those Tuff Tackle outfits are being flogged off cheap these days, can't say I've used them myself but with 20-30kg carbontex drag systems and 10-15 year warranty seems like good bang for your buck. Should be able to get a combo with plenty of change from $500. Otherwise look around for an Okuma Salina II in a suitable size, excellent reputation and again great value. Cheers, Adam.
  8. As a keen fisherman and a law student this sickens me. Here's hoping the open standing provisions for environmental actions ensures Union Carbide and the individual directors responsible face the music á la James Hardie, although the Bhopal disaster doesn't leave much room for optimism. Adam.
  9. Thanks Raiders Helpful as ever. Cheers, Adam.
  10. Hey guys, Over the past few days I've noticed more and more dead Mutton birds (I think) washing up on the beaches of the Northern suburbs of Wollongong (Thirroul, Bulli etc). Today there were hundreds along the stretch of Thirroul beach. Any idea what could cause this? My first thought was that perhaps they got caught out in a storm, but given the number of them I'm wondering if perhaps there's something in the water? People are still reporting good catches around the area so this doesn't seem too likely. Very curious, Adam.
  11. I'd be interested to know how the NSW size and bag limits compare around the country. A brief search reveals that the Qld size limit for Mulloway is 75cm and a 2 fish limit. I'd fully support an increase in the size limits and restricted bag limits but in the meantime I'm proactive and impose my own limits and encourage others to do likewise. Anything less than 75cm won't feed my family anyway Cheers, Adam.
  12. Incredible fish, I had no idea they could grow so large! Cheers, Adam.
  13. It's threads like this that make it INCREDIBLY hard to study especially when my newly purchased Hobie Quest sits patiently in the garage still in its wrapping. Can't wait to get my first jew on lure, but if I have to put up with some blue-nose breambos to get it I suppose I can deal with that Great work, Adam.
  14. You're a tolerant bloke, good of you to lead by example like that. In the short space of time I've been fishing (properly) I've only had positive experiences with fellow fishos. Whenever I've got a reel in my hand people want to come and chat about what's on the bite, the size of the flatty/jewie/kingy they pulled out of the same waterways in the past.. admittedly I don't tend to fish crowded spots but I'm lucky in that respect. Certainly not worth getting aggressive over. Cheers, Adam.
  15. I'd come down and say hello but exams are keeping me off the water for the next month, good luck with the fishing. I see you're from Orange, I just fair welled the girlfriend to Orange as part of her medicine course. Cheers, Adam.
  16. Solid fish guys, especially well done handlining that fat Amberjack! I'd be thrilled to connect to a kingy of that size let alone the marlin! Cheers, Adam.
  17. Keen to know the verdict on this as well Mick, After my exams are out of the way I plan on spending some time at Tallowa Dam and the Shoalhaven River chasing bass but it'd be nice to know there's something closer to home. Cheers, Adam.
  18. You should be able to find the Spinfisher for $129 if you know where to look, I've also heard good things about Okuma Salina II's... built tough and suitable for jigging with the bigger ones cranking out a reported 12kg of drag. I've got Okumas and Spinfishers I use off the beach and they're both great (both quite heavy though). Cheers, Adam.
  19. Great report mate, Top bag of fish there and congrats on the Jewie... all these reports of mulloway on plastics are making me jealous! Good to know the Manns still work on the flatties, I've got a few of them waiting to be dusted off in the tacklebox. Cheers, Adam.
  20. Incredible session! You've inspired me to land my first jewie on plastic, the new Hobie should help Cheers, Adam.
  21. Gotta be pleased with that! The magic metre flatty, that's one for the bucket list  Good on you for letting her go and giving someone else the chance to hook a monster. Cheers, Adam.
  22. Good work on the yak bass mate, I took delivery of a new Hobie Quest yesterday and I'm itching to get out bass fishing soon. Cheers, Adam.
  23. Saw this article this morning and I thought it was worth sharing, would love to see this thing in action. If you watch the video he mentions applications for rock fisher rescues. Article here Cheers, Adam.
  24. Joey mate what a report! I've experienced the buzz of a good jewie fight on a beach reel with 10kg line, I can't imagine what the fight is like on a 1000 sized reel and 4-6lb line You must be some angler, I'd love to hit the Georges with you blokes some time and learn the art of jew on plastics and light gear. Cheers, Adam.
  25. Quest arrived today, can't wait to blood it!
